Cincinnati Bengals Eye Trade for Alvin Kamara

The Cincinnati Bengals are looking to trade for New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, according to a proposal by Austen Bundy.

What's the proposed trade?

Bundy suggests the Bengals send a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 conditional sixth-round pick to the Saints in exchange for Kamara and cash considerations.

The Bengals are currently 16th in the American Football Conference with a 3-14 record, on a two-game losing streak.

Why does Alvin Kamara make sense for the Bengals?

Kamara would provide a veteran presence in the Bengals' running game, complementing quarterback Joe Burrow and giving him an additional safety valve out of the backfield.

In his last season with the Saints, Kamara played 457 total snaps, leading to a 51.7 overall PFF grade, and carried the ball 131 times for 471 rushing yards and one touchdown.

How would Kamara fit into the Bengals' offense?

Kamara's experience would be valuable in the Bengals locker room, and he could provide much-needed rest for other players in short-down situations, as well as a critical red zone presence.

The Bengals' next game is against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 13, 2026.

And with the team looking to improve its offense, acquiring Kamara could demonstrate the willingness to go all in rather than take a slow approach to a retool.

So the Bengals may be willing to negotiate a deal to bring Kamara to Cincinnati, especially considering the Saints would have the incentive to retain a portion of his salary this season.

But the Bengals need to invest in their offense while Burrow's window is still open, and acquiring Kamara could be a key move in that effort.

The Bengals have already made several moves to improve their defense, including signing Boye Mafe, Jonathan Allen, and Bryan Cook, as well as trading for Dexter Lawrence II.
